FIRST Made With Love Bazaar

Photobucket

The very first Made With Love Bazaar took place in Wynyard over the weekend, and I think all that were there can agree that it was a smashing success! Even if you weren’t there, just nod your agreement. You wouldn’t want to be left out.

We had several stall-holders, with goodies ranging from gorgeous softies to sock monkeys, beanies, jewellery, bags, and just general fabulousness galore. The stalls were all so pretty that I think nearly every stall-holder had a panic thinking that theirs didn’t match up to the quality of the others (they did, by the way), and there was such a range between the style and products of each stall that everybody’s tastes were covered.

Sadly, the weather was pretty dicey all day, and the sky was a very unappealing colour of grey. Happily, the rain held off until just after midday, and all of the good market shopping had been done by then. However, in the future if the weather is looking a bit on the uncool side – never fear! Our very special brand of love, the Made With Love Bazaar, is undercover, and you won’t be getting your pretty heads damp by going there.

As well as stalls, we also had an ingeniously named room (The Green Room) full of vintage and second-hand threads, all reasonably priced. We plan to keep restocking this room so there will always be a new wave of clothing coming through, in ranging sizes and styles, all waiting for your perusal.

We have another market coming up in just under 2 weeks now (on Saturday, 11th December), and it promises to be even bigger and better, with more stalls, more great bargains, and hopefully some more champagne. Make a note of it on your calendar, and dedicate some time to coming out and seeing us – a crafty Christmas can be covered in one visit!

Finally, a big thank you to all who helped organise and promote this event. Michelle Walker and Claire Gale were key instigators in making the markets happen, and there were a lot of other girls getting the word out there with fliers and word of mouth. This market couldn’t have been possible without you, so thanks!

We all hope to see you at future Bazaars, and until then – keep your purse strings drawn, and keep dreaming of sugar plums and crafty things.

The Markets Are A-Coming

Made With Love adj. 1. Item/s that are handmade, and reminiscent of a more relaxed time, ie. The 60’s – Twiggy, hippies, free love, psychedelic prints. Items are often highly prized, and craftily made.

Bazaar n. 1. A market consisting of a street lined with shops and stalls.
2. A shop or a part of a store in which miscellaneous articles are sold.
3. A fair or sale at which miscellaneous articles are sold.

So, with only a couple of weeks until the very first Made With Love Bazaar in Wynyard, sewing machines are going at high speed, minds are ticking, and crafty implements are being used in all manners.

The Stitch ‘N’ Bitch girls have been coming up with some absolute crackers of ideas – I’ve already seen or heard about different little projects that I know I’m definitely going to be purchasing. Like Claire’s little doily purses – very drool-worthy. Just be careful not to drool ON the purses. They’re too pretty to have saliva on them. The markets will be great for little stocking stuffer presents. And the odd present for yourself.

I’ve been working on all sorts of bits and pieces for the markets, the latest being some photo frames. I’ve been decorating frames like these for donkeys years, but haven’t done any recently. It’s always nice to settle back into something you enjoy!

I’ve also got a stack of bags piling up. They’re all made with recycled fabric, from shirts, tea-towels, pillow-cases, and pretty much anything I can get my hands on.

All in all, the markets promise to be fun, inspiring, and kind to your wallet in the lead up to Christmas. Quality hand-crafted goods for great prices – what more could you ask for?

Hope to see you all there!
